Due to the loss in National Geographic Society funding, Big Map rental fees are changing. Beginning in 2019, non-profit organizations will be charged a flat fee of $125 to cover shipping (round-trip via FedEx) and handling. For-profit organizations should contact the MGA for pricing information. Handling fees will be used to maintain the Big Maps and the variety of geography education tools included in the Big Map containers. Maps can continue to be checked out for a two-week period.

Maps can still be picked-up and returned to our University of Missouri office for a handling fee of $25. Make sure to note that in your request form.

MGA houses three Missouri Floor maps. The topographic map created in Missouri with funding from the Missouri GIS Advisory Council and Missouri 4-H measures 15 feet by 15 feet. The two State Giant Traveling Maps, created and supported by National Geographic, measure 17 feet by 21 feet. While they may fit in your classroom, we suggest that you use a conference room, gymnasium, cafeteria or media center. The maps are not allowed to be used in an outdoor setting.

The Missouri Geographic Alliance is using FedEx to ship the giant map and supplies to different areas of the state. Included with the supplies will be a return label for you to ship the map back to Columbia.
