What's New @MizzouGeog? 3.9.20

It’s a rainy Monday morning, but our spirits are high: we are more than halfway through the semester, and the beautiful weekend we just enjoyed indicates that spring is on its way! Here’s what’s new @MizzouGeog this week:

  • Don’t forget to attend the Geography Club/GTU meeting this Thursday at 5 p.m. in Stewart 216. New-and-improved snacks are on the menu, y’all! I think Madeline is still looking for hiking ideas.
  • Make sure to register for the Geo Club/GTU Boonslick field trip this Saturday, March 14. Email Dr. Hurt if you are interested.
  • Do you want a photo credit in a textbook read by thousands of students? Dr. Joe Hobbs is officially working at long last on the new edition of Fundamentals of World Regional Geography (probably to be retitled simple as ‘World Regional Geography”). There’s a section of Chapter One that is just begging for a photo of MU Geographers at work: one or more persons at a screen appearing to work, or actually working with, GIS. It would be best to see in at least some detail what is on the screen. The photo would be a callout from the section that I have pasted below (for your reference), and would carry the photographer’s name as the credit. It should be shot at reasonably high resolution as it’s going into the book. If you can get a high-resolution photograph of one or more of us geographers working at a computer screen with GIS, please send it to Joe Hobbs (hobbsj@missouri.edu) to be considered for publication in the next edition of World Regional Geography.

That’s it for now, everyone. Hope you have a great week.
