Soren Larsen

Good morning, all, and welcome to Week 5--

Last call for camping at Arrow Rock this Friday! We have only a few spots left. Sign up and pay your $2 by tomorrow to Deb Cutler in 202 Stewart Hall by 5pm! RSVP by completing this Qualtrics survey: https://missouri.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dmLf1Ic86CC8BQa

Check it out: New itinerary information for the first day of our Homecoming celebrations on Friday, October 8:

3PM: Dedication of the Jesse H. Wheeler Library with a fancy new plaque! 217 Stewart Hall.

3:30 – 4:30 PM: Geography Alumni Roundtable – get the inside scoop on careers in geography, and make connections that could help you land a job after graduation. Parker Auditorium, 102 Stewart Hall.

4:45PM: Dedication of the Dakota Ioanis Memorial Tree (with family) – right outside the south entrance of Stewart Hall.

On Saturday, October 9, Homecoming celebrations will continue with the tailgate on Tiger Terrace, the Urban Coyotes playing tunes, and a book sale that will benefit Geography Club, Gamma Theta Upsilon, and the Heidelberg Research Council.  We’ll need volunteers to help before the event (organizing the books, advertising) and also on October 9.  If you’re willing to help, please e-mail Kyle Bals at kbbyfh@mail.missouri.edu.

Submit a design to be considered for this year’s Geography Club/GTU T-shirt! The winner gets a free T-shirt—and virtual immortality as you design will be worn by generations of future Mizzou students. Contact President Sarah at sefxb6@mail.missouri.edu before the end of the month.  We plan to have order forms available at the October meeting so that shirts will be available for pick-up around Thanksgiving.

President Sarah Frost is also working on an exhibit honoring legendary geographer Carl O. Sauer in his hometown of Warrenton.  Interested in resume building?  Contact Sarah (sefxb6@mail.missouri.edu) if you want to find out more details and potentially participate.
