What's New @MizzouGeog? It's Cold!! 2.8.21
Good morning, all! I hope you aren’t completely frozen now that winter finally seems to have arrived. You know it’s cold when there’s ice on the inside of your window pane (and maybe, it’s time to invest in some new window panes.) Let’s “warm up” with a few quick shots of good news—
Last week, a research article co-authored by Mizzou Geography alum Sydney Bailey (MA ‘20), MU Statistics Professor Erin Schliep, and our very own Dr. Grant Elliott was accepted for publication in Ecosphere, one of the top journals in the world for research on the science of ecology. The article title is, “Seasonal temperature-moisture interactions limit seedling establishment at upper treeline in the Southern Rockies,” and it represents the culmination of intensive fieldwork in the Southern Rocky Mountains and the Geo-Environmental Lab downstairs in Stewart. Next time you see Dr. Elliott, be sure to congratulate him on this sweet accomplishment—and important contribution to the field of biogeography!
