What's New @MizzouGeog? 10.5.20
Good Monday morning, everyone!
October has arrived and that means it’s time for all you undergrads to start thinking about your classes for Spring 2021! We have an exciting slate of courses on the books (well, on myZou) for this upcoming semester, in a variety of online, blended, and traditional modes of delivery. Classes are visible in myZou and registration begins Wednesday, October 28. Remember that Dr. Hurt is here to discuss the “big-picture” elements of your figure in geography, including your emphasis area, career readiness and plans after graduation. E-mail him (hurtd@missouri.edu) and you can meet in person, on Zoom, or have an e-mail discussion. Joe Franklin (jpfranklin@missouri.edu) is your academic advisor, and your point of contact for the specifics of your spring class plan. Make sure to get in touch with him well before your registration window opens.
And don’t forget about internships! Dr. Foulkes (foulkesm@missouri.edu) can help you arrange course credit for an internship and brainstorm possibilities. Tom Vought of the Missouri Spatial Data Information Service (MSDIS) has had a number of great non-paid internship opportunities in recent memory that involve cartography and public-sector GIS. Contact him (voughtth@missouri.edu) to discuss what might be possible for spring.
And now for something completely different: What happens when you show up for your Regions and Nations TA meeting on Zoom only to discover that you didn’t get the memo about the dress code? They say all the coolest geographers wear blue, but if you ask me, Dakota Ioanis is the one who got it right: because he wore red (and only because of that), the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens that very same evening on Monday Night Football! Go Chiefs (and Dakota) – and let’s beat the Patriots tonight!
M-I-Z!
G-E-O!
