What's New @MizzouGeog? 11.29.21

Hoping everyone had a great Thanksgiving Break, coming back to campus with full bellies, happy hearts, and a little more peace of mind than when you left.

Here’s what we’ve got coming up on the agenda – mark your calendars for our end-of-semester events!

  • Monday, December 6 at 5PM – Geography Happy Hour (Heidelberg Research Council, or HRC) … normally, the HRC meets at the eponymous Heidelberg Restaurant, but the old Berg has been closed on Mondays, so we will likely meet at Shakespeare’s. Pencil in the old bard’s place, but a forthcoming email will confirm the location.
  • Friday, December 10 from 11 am-1 pm in Stewart 216 (Reading Day) – Winter Potluck … the department will provide a ham and please bring a side to share as we nosh and celebrate the end of another semester and year.  Stay tuned for more information closer to time.
  • Week of December 13 – time TBA – Sarah Frost will be presenting the results of her Honors and Senior Seminar capstone research. I will have a definite time and Zoom link for you next week. I know this is after the end of the semester, but you will definitely want to hear what Sarah has learned about the perception of Geography in Columbia high schools!

Please do not forget to donate your non-perishable food items to the Food Bank receptacle at the west end of Stewart Hall, second floor. We have more than enough to go around!

Also, Dr. Hurt and I are planning a spring camping and exploration trip to Taum Sauk Mountain and environs next spring. If you want to be involved in the activities planning, please send me or Dr. Hurt an email!

Please send me any information, events, or details you would like me to pass on to the rest of the Geography community!

M-I-Z!

G-E-O!
