Scientists and geographers continue to study how climate change is affecting the world as we know it and impacting our lives as well as those of future generations. Be in the know! This truly metropolitan class discusses everything “city,” from the economic and environmental to the social and cultural. It’s informative, exciting – and stretches the imagination. Bonus: it meets the social science requirement for Gen Ed. Great instructor!

If you are not a geographer, you may not understand Geographic Information Systems (GIS), but it’s worth looking into as engaging hands-on GIS jobs are in high demand nationally as well as globally. And most provide great income! This course will get you right into the nit and grit of GIS, and will teach you what you can do with a GIS degree or certificate. Computer labs keep the work interesting and fun! Explore something different. While recommended for sophomores, we will open it to freshmen with instructor consent.

What’s more exciting than Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean? Learn about land, place, people, and lifestyles in this fascinating region. Travel with Dr. Doug Hurt to these amazing places and find beauty in the diversity of culture and environment while learning about topics such as travel and tourism, sustainable development, natural resources management, Indigenous peoples, and more! We usually request one geography class under your belt, but will consider freshmen standing with instructor consent. Boonoonoonoos! Boonoonoonoos!
